Scientists were able to produce light-emitting light receptors in the eye with three-dimensional printers. These receptors enable the perception of light and the first step in the vision process.
25% of the light coming to the refractors was transformed into electricity
Receptors were created on the surface of an eye-shaped glass with the help of ink. Then, with semiconductor materials, it was aimed to convert the light coming to these receptors into electricity, that is, to provide vision.
The result was successful, 25% of the incoming light could be converted into electricity.
Michael Mcalpine, the head of the research, said they had made an important step in the bionic eye, but had a long process ahead.
According to NTV, the next target of the team is to produce more efficient light receptors and to make soft parts for the transplantation of these receptors.
